SCAM ARTIST GETS PRISON

This woman scammed people not just once but twice. She was let out of jail where she set up her scam again. She was sentenced in 2007 for two and half years in prison. I guess while awaiting trial she pulled the scam again. This time, it was couple out of California. She got six and half years this time. I hope they sent her straight to prison. She should not get access to a computer or a phone for that time frame.

Here is the article in the Associated Press.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An Alice woman is returning to prison over a second adoption scam while on supervised release from the first one.

A federal judge in Corpus Christi on Tuesday sentenced Belinda Ramirez to 6 1/2 years in prison.

Ramirez was arrested May 21 at a motel in Beeville. She later pleaded guilty to mail and wire fraud.

Prosecutors say Ramirez tricked a Fresno, Calif., couple into wiring her $800 to help pay for her care while she falsely claimed to be pregnant and offered the child for adoption.

Ramirez in early 2007 was sentenced to two years in prison for wire and mail fraud.

U.S. District Judge Janis Graham sentenced Ramirez to 30 months on each of the two latest counts, to be served concurrently.

The judge sentenced Ramirez to 24 months on each of the two original convictions, for mail and wire fraud, to be served consecutively.
