GROSS ATROCITIES IN THE ADOPTION INDUSTRY

They never seem to quit do they? They keep getting worse and worse. Bright and early there was a news report out of the Salt Lake Tribune about the Banks again. Lets start with some history on this couple.

It started with Focus on Children adoption agency. They were later kicked out of the JCICS because of rumors of false promises made to natural parents in American Samoa. Karen and Scott Banks were later indicted for charges of fraud, conspiracy, money laundering, and bringing in illegal aliens into the country. The natural parents were told that the program was sponsored by the LDS Church and that their children would return upon the age of 18.

Then there was a battle over a child that was supposed to have been adopted by another couple. The judge allowed this couple to keep this other child which would have brought their family up to nine children. The Kirkpatricks fought pretty hard for custody of Amelya. Now the Banks have abandoned their children in American Samoa. You can't get much worse than that. One would think that these charges would have finally gone to court. Then you abandon your child further by leaving them in another country with $500.00.

You can't tell me that LDS Church and their Family Service organizations are not corrupt. Its obvious that it is. Why hasn't the federal government stepped into this organization and had it investigated is beyond me.

I was told recently that a society that destroys its children is a society that will itself self destruct. Isn't that where we are headed? We are teaching our children that they are disposable commodities. This case alone threatens the foundation of our country and our society. It threatens the foundation of adoption more than adoptee access ever could. Situations like this that force mothers and fathers to relinquish is enough as well. The LDS Family Services is well known for that tactic alone. Just look at Shawn McDonald, Camira Bailey, Joshua Simmerson, Brynden Ayre, Cody O'Dea, the anonymous fathers in Oklahoma and Houston, and now Tyson Sherwood. I know in several of these cases the mothers were told how to circumvent the fathers and their rights by the agencies themselves. The LDS Family Services in the Fort Worth/Dallas area was even fined $100,000. Their social worker was put on a two year probation at the expense of the adoption agency since he liked to bypass natural parents' rights. Corruption in adoption just doesn't exist only in international adoption but also in domestic adoption. When are the states and our country going to stand up and pay attention? Adoption agencies such as these will bring themselves down and thus the adoption industry. Sadly it will come too late. Millions of children will be hurt by then.

Here is today's story and link.

The Salt Lake Tribune

Salvation Meauli, who now lives in American Samoa, says her adoptive parents in Utah have refused to provide the documentation she and her brother need to prove their identities and get passports. Meauli says they are unable to leave the island. Found starving in a Romanian orphanage, Salvation Meauli and her brother were brought to Utah as babies - the first of several children adopted by Scott and Karen Banks

But at age 9, Meauli and her brother were sent to live in American Samoa. The Bankses cited problems including failure to bond.

"I was actually excited and felt free for the first time in a long time," Meauli, now 18, said of the move. "I am finally surrounded by people who love and adore me for who I am."

Yet Meauli says the Bankses, charged in an unrelated matter with arranging fraudulent adoptions of Samoan children, have refused to provide documentation she and her brother need to prove their identities and begin their adult lives.

With no birth certificates or adoption papers, the siblings are unable to get driver licenses or passports. Although Meauli wants to attend Brigham Young University-Hawaii, without a Social Security number she can't even fill out an application.

"Right now we only want our passports done so that we can travel and finally be normal," Meauli said. "I have not left this island ever since I set foot on it."

Attempts to contact Scott and Karen Banks through their attorneys for comment were unsuccessful.

The couple's history with Meauli became public at a 1st District Court trial in February over whether they or another couple should get custody of a 4-year-old girl from China. The Bankses, who already had eight children - two biological, three adopted from Romania and three adopted from Russia - wanted to add the child to their family.
But Curry and Mary Frances Kirkpatrick, of Overland Park, Kan., say they arranged to adopt the child through Focus on Children, an agency operated by the Bankses. They say they placed her temporarily with the couple when they needed respite care. The Bankses claim the Kirkpatricks abandoned her.
Lawyer Steve Kuhnhausen, who represents the Kirkpatricks, argued the Bankses' history with their adopted children - including Meauli and her brother - made them unsuitable parents.
Meauli and her brother, named Auriel and Ethan Banks by the Bankses, were sent to American Samoa in 2000, Kuhnhausen said. Then, two years later, the other Romanian child the Bankses adopted, who has cerebral palsy and is now 17, was placed in a care facility in Orem.
Scott Banks testified that the boy had become too big for Karen to lift and help with daily living activities. He said Auriel and Ethan had severe behavioral problems, including being abusive toward their siblings.
At the time, the family was living in Wyoming and there were few services available to help them with their specific problems, Banks said. Neither Ethan nor Auriel bonded with him and his wife as they got older, he said.
"We were naive thinking that love would take care of all problems," Banks said.
He testified he and his wife sent them to American Samoa and agreed to pay a friend $500 a month until they reached adulthood.
Karen Banks, who found the three Romanian orphans, testified she has not seen or spoken to Auriel and Ethan since they left because she didn't want to interfere with them bonding with their new family.
"They didn't have an attachment to me," she said. "They would have walked away with anyone."
Judge Stanton Taylor granted custody of the Chinese child to the Bankses but delayed allowing the couple to adopt the girl until the criminal charges against them are resolved. The Kirkpatricks have appealed that custody decision to the Utah Court of Appeals.
Cathy Cevering, a North Logan visitation supervisor who learned about Auriel and Ethan through the 1st District case, tracked down the two through an online search. She has spent months trying to obtain their records for them but so far has been unable to find anything, including a record of Auriel and Ethan's entry into the United States or adoption papers, she said.
Meauli said Scott Banks recently e-mailed her a Social Security number but she has never received the card itself. She and Cevering have been unable to confirm that the number is really hers.
Meauli said she loves her American Samoan family and claims the Bankses "never really showed real compassion towards us." She and Ethan, who were born to different parents but whose adoption made them siblings, are close, "like PB&J," she said.
Despite living in the Samoan culture for years, Meauli is a typical American teen in many ways. She has a blog, loves Harry Potter and likes hanging out with friends. With excellent grades, she's ready to take the next step in her life.
"I want to be a vet when I grow up," she said. "I love animals so much."

Plain and simple

Scott and Karen Banks are
CHILD TRAFFACKERS. They made Millons of DOllars on trading bags of rice for babies (how many bags equate to a baby??) They are both fraudulant people. Now they want a baby girl that belongs to a couple in Kansas. And of course they have dumped and abandoned three adopted children of their own. These people are scum.

It's unfortunate that you believe everything you read in the paper and see on TV. These are innocent people who were wrongly targeted by Homeland Security due to false reports from a dishonest former employee who was angry for being fired. Government agents made enormous allegations against them, ransacked their home office, and took the documents that their adoptive children in Samoa want now. By the time the government realized they really have no case against the Banks, they were in too deep and had spent millions. To avoid embarassment, the government is hanging on, offering ever more lenient plea bargains, hoping the Banks will plead guilty to something. Did you know the charges are now down to two misdemeanors? And, who knows, maybe the Banks will take one of the plea bargains, not because they are guilty, but to get the government off their back. It's truly disgusting to witness unjustice in our system, the bias of the media, and the twisted conclusions people like you come to. Sure, there are child trafficers out there, but the Banks aren't them. Furthermore, if a judge could look at both sides of the case with the Kirkpatricks (it was over a GIRL from China, by the way. You don't even have your facts straight!) and find the Banks suitable parents, there has to be far more to the story than is portrayed in the media. The Banks' opposition is creating a slanderous whirlwind, and you are naively falling for it just as planned. How does it feel to be hoodwinked?

Sorry Danalee Thornock (aka Karen Banks SISTER). THE BANKS ARE CHILD PIMPS. Purely, simply, CHILD PIMPS who can't parent a rag doll, much less a living, breathing child.

I'll give you a few FACTS STRAIGHT. THEY PLED GUILTY BECAUSE THEY ARE GUILTY and they have benefited from human misery. STEALING CHILDREN FROM FIRST FAMILIES and selling them is a crime. Then again, as long as the child is from a poor, brown family overseas it really makes no difference to "those" people.

Can you explain Salvation Meauli? Can you explain Heta Sioka? How about Maria Bennett? Neither Heta nor Maria survived their adoptions.

Of the "milliions" spent on their defense. Oh, cry me a river. THE MILLIONS NEED TO BE RETURNED TO BILKED FIRST AND ADOPTIVE FAMILIES.

And remember, since you also took a bit of the pie when FOC was a 501(c)(3), care to explain how Transend fit into all of it? How about MaiLy LaTrace & Jakov?

Scott and Karen Banks

good parents..are you fing nuts. Lets talk about "adopting three infants from Romainia, and Scott was waiting with welcoming arms along with the two bio sons...Welcoming arms that brought these three kids into their front door and 9 years ditched them. Two in a remote island, Somoa,,so friging far from them that it blows us away. They abandoned them, even thought Scott and Karen Banks were traveling back and forth to Somoa, stealing children from bio mothers. Prying them off their mothers nipples. Collecting cash from adoptive parents and running to their bank, no pun intended.

The boy with CP...he was fed tablescrapes. His teeth were never brushed, sounds like Scott and Karen Banks suck at being parents. He was dumped in a group home, poor kids,,hope he gets a chance to tell his story before he gets silenced by the Banks like Auriel was silenced by Karen Banks.

The Judge on the Kirkpatrick case was MORMON, so was the GAL and everyone else in Utah. The Kirkpatricks sounded like decent repectfully people. Heck, the mother had post patum depression. She had twins, enough said.

The Banks plead guilty because they did not want to be hung by the balls in a trial and beleive me if the Feds, did not have enough evidence, we do against Scott and Karen Banks and FOC and all the stupid, uneducated people who were sucked in, Mormons no doubt. It is sad that in this day and age, there is no seperation of Church and State in Utah.

The last time a child was taken out of that state was in 1858, one year after the Moutain Meadow Massacre.

Scott and Karen Banks,

The last thing these people should be allowed to do is to adopt a child that they were the adoption agency for. Talk about a major conflict of interest. These people are scammers. And dont deserve to ruin another adopted childs life.

The Banks have shamed the adoption agency world. All potiental adoptive parents will fear that their agency is as depraved as Scott and Karen Banks are.

Write letters to Judge Sams, be an advocate to put these people where they have earned a place PRISON.
