AN INTERESTING ARTICLE FROM GUATEMALA

There is an article in the Prensa Latina. There is going to be a planned sit in on the United States Embassy in Guatemala.

Here is the link. Here is the article.

Guatemala, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Guatemalan mothers are staging a sit-in in front of the US embassy in this capital to demand the return of their daughters given up irregularly for adoption to couples from that northern country.

Heydi Batz, Escarleth Lopez and Angielyn Hernandez were stolen from their mother Raquel Par, Olga Lopez and Loida Rodriguez, respectively, who later identified them in the files of delivery to US couples.

Norma Cruz, from the Sobrevivientes Foundation, told Prensa Latina they even know the exact place where Heydi and Escarleth are, as well as the people who received them.

US authorities now have the responsibility for doing DNA tests and, if positive, must return them to their nation of birth, Cruz stated.

"The United States is the top baby importer in the world and we hope that authorities assume their responsibility due to irregularities committed," the activist stated.

The Republic's Congress approved in December a law to end this situation and created the National Adoption Council, a single entity that authorizes the delivery of a minor to a foreign couple.
