ARE YOU IN A CRISIS PREGNANCY?

In recent months I have had several mothers contact me. Sadly they are from Florida. Namely its three attorneys, Michael Shorstein, Patricia Stowbridge, and Jeanne Tate. There are many other states with crooked adoption attorneys. Being an adoptee rights activist and adoption reformist, Florida and Utah are some of the most adoption friendly states in the country. They favor the adoptive parents and more importantly the adoption agencies and attorneys. I want to present some solid advice for expectant mothers being targeted by adoption agencies and their attorneys.

Adoption like abortion is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. You can survive this. You do have resources. You can get WIC, foodstamps, and medicaid. Its easy to do. Always remember that you have options. I along with many others can help you with those options.

In 1996, I discovered that I was pregnant with my first daughter, Dakota. My husband and I got married in June of that year. We didn't have the money to bring her into this world. I was lucky in that I had a very dear friend at the restaurant that I worked at. She told me what to do. I also had a great case worker. Adoption and abortion were not even part of the solution for me. My case worker got me on foodstamps and medicaid. She also suggested WIC. If I can do it, then so can you. There is no shame in using the resources that you and your family have paid into.

So you don't want to abort, you next choice is parenting and adoption. Here is some facts that I found with the OriginsUSA website. In many cases of adoption, the adoption attorney represents both the adoptive parents and the natural parents. This is a conflict of interest. This only happens in adoption. According to Elizabeth Samuels:

"Most state laws, in contrast to the laws of many other countries, provide that consent may be given and become irrevocable almost immediately after the child's birth. Under the laws in more than half the states, irrevocable consent can be established in fewer than four days. The Article concludes that the laws of most states do not sufficiently promote mothers' deliberate decisionmaking. It recommends laws that make it more likely mothers will be offered skilled, unbiased counseling; will receive clear, complete information; and will have adequate time to decide."

Most open adoption agreements are not legally binding. If an adoptive parent breaks the agreement, there is no recourse for a natural parent. It does not reverse the adoption. Once you make an adoption plan, expect to be dogged by the adoption agency and the attorney. They will belittle you in order to get you to relinquish. They will make all kinds of promises in order to get you to sign that dotted line. Think long and hard before you do. You have the right to change your mind. You have the right to say no to this. It will take a strong will. It will take strong determination. You can do it.

Common questions that they will pose to you.

• Don't you want your child to have two parents?
• You do know that single mothers live lower than the poverty line?
• You can not complete your education if you don't place.
  
• If you don't place with us, you will have to pay back all the funds of the adoptive parents.

There are many more. I want you to know that you can raise your child. You don't need to make this kind of decision. HOW PEOPLE FIND YOUR BLOG

It never ceases to amaze me how people find me. I honestly don't get it. Someone came to my blog using the search words "anti adoption protest in New Orleans." Okay that protest is not anti adoption. It is about adoptee rights. We are not promoting or demoting adoption in any form or fashion. We are however against the discrimination that adoptees face.

With Department of Homeland Security promoting proof of citizenship laws and the Real ID program, adoptees are facing possible civil rights violations. Why? We can't prove our birth in 44 states. This will restrict an adoptee from getting a passport, joining the military, getting retirement benefits, and even the right to vote.

For the non adopted, the individual and their parents have access to that birth certificate. There are not any questions. The individual doesn't have to ask permission from their parents to get access to their birth certificate. Why do adoptees and their families? In most states the natural parents don't even have access to that original birth certificate. This is discrimination period. Everyone in the fifty states has special access to the documents with their names on them. Adoptees and their families are shut out.

You must consider why the records are really sealed. The adoption is not sealed at relinquishment but at the finalization. Most would say that it protects the adopters. It may have started out like that. Its not that way now. I honestly believe its to hide the secrets of the adoption agencies and their attorneys. All you have to do is look at the news. There are tons of stories of adoptees and their families being rooked over by the agencies.

Adopters and natural parents are screaming for transparency in adoption. Adoptees are screaming for it. How long before people listen?

CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTERS

My first encounter with a crisis pregnancy center was with a friend that needed a pregnancy verification test for her medicaid benefits. She went to the local CPC with her husband and son. They asked her three times that she relinquish her baby. THREE TIMES IN FRONT OF HUSBAND AND CHILD.

What set me off today was this article. Pat Boone needs to shut his mouth. Planned parenthood is a tax funded growth industry. As a young woman, I used Planned Parenthood services. I used them to get my yearly exam and my birth control products. I however never had an abortion. I can bet that the adoption industry and CPC's like CareNet make a great deal more money. Non profit is all about profit.

The adoption industry is at least a three billion dollar business. This is only infant adoption. The tax dollars that adoption agencies receive from the state and federal governments for foster care is not included in this little sum of money. There are a few agencies in Texas alone that get close to $100,000,000.

I find it even more interesting with these agencies getting funds from state and federal governments, these agencies use this funds to continue to discriminate against adoptees and families. The states have created an immunity and privilege special for adoption.

Another interesting fact is that adoption agencies are connected to the Right to Life movement. The National Council for Adoption is in thick with them. These CPCs and the adoption agencies are dead set against Roe vs. Wade but use it to intentionally thwart adoptees and their families. They use it to discriminate against them.

After reviewing the IRS form 990, Planned Parenthood gets $85,000,000 per year. Not all of it comes from the government. They earn a lot of it through donations and services rendered. Services like family planning, yearly exams for women, and abortions. Adoption industry earns that in a year within one state. So really who is making money here? I don't think Planned Parenthood and all of its affiliates have earned near the three billion dollar a year that the adoption industry has earned. Again this is just the domestic infant adoption. If you figure in the international adoption side of this industry, it goes up to seven billion dollars a year.

The Right to Life movement needs to re-access who they associate with. These agencies continually fight to make life harder for the mothers and the adoptees.
